Let the adventure begin by seeing the sun set and the full moon rise under the night sky on the edge of the foothills. 3.5 mile loop hike just above the plains to the east and uninterrupted views of the full moon.

We will start this beautiful hike out of the Florida parking lot trailhead. We will ascend up the Green Mountain Trailhead to the radio tower where you will have sweeping views of the Denver metro area. After another quarter mile we will hop on the Hayden Trail and loop back to the Green Mountain Trail descending gradually with a few twists and turns.

You will more than likely encounter mule deer as well as the howl of a coyote in the distance. This loop rises roughly 300 feet, with the first part of the trail rising the fastest. After we reach the trail junction at the top of Green Mountain we will descend with few ups and downs along the way. The overall direction is downward back to the Florida parking lot.

Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash at all times due to Lakewood City Code. (Link)
