Thank Public Officials for Standing with Us Against the RAM Coal Export Terminal

After years of being told that the proposed RAM coal export terminal was a “done deal,” the Army Corps has now confirmed that the export terminal’s permit expired on November 30, 2017.

We won! We stopped this destructive project for good.

The proposed RAM coal export terminal in Plaquemines Parish would have interfered with one of Louisiana’s major coastal restoration projects and would have run uncovered coal trains through neighborhoods in Westwego, Gretna, Belle Chasse and the West Bank.

People across coastal Louisiana came together to stop the RAM coal export terminal, and key leaders in Plaquemines and Jefferson Parish fought alongside their communities. Join us in thanking them for standing with their constituents, our communities, and for championing coastal restoration!

The community leaders in Jefferson and Plaquemines Parish who led the charge against the RAM coal export terminal are an inspiring example of coastal leadership and what we can accomplish when we organize together.
  • Westwego, Gretna and Jefferson Parish passed unanimous resolutions about RAM.
  • Leaders in the communities of Wood Park, Myrtle Grove and historic Ironton worked continuously from the beginning against RAM, all while dealing with existing coal export terminals and other industrial encroachment challenges.
It all added up to a strong coalition fighting to defend our coastal communities that continues to show up for each other to this day.

It has been an honor to work alongside you in this fight. Sign and add a message to your thank you note to be delivered by January 31st!
