The Affordable Care Act eliminated many discriminatory practices to ensure women had access to insurance and critical care. Under the ACA, insurance companies can no longer charge women more for coverage and must provide maternity care, contraceptives, and preventative care like Pap smears and mammograms.
But the healthcare plan passed through the House and bills considered in the Senate will roll back many of these important measures, putting women at risk. The House version would block patients from receiving life-saving care at Planned Parenthood by banning Medicaid reimbursements, eliminate abortion coverage for plans purchased with federal tax credits, and endanger coverage for maternity and newborn care if states deem such care non-essential.
Tell your U.S. Senators: Stop the mean-spirited rollback of women’s healthcare!
