Carlsbad: clear the way for energy choice and clean energy

Our North Coastal cities could have a new non-profit electricity provider that gives us local control over the type of energy keeping our lights on and the rates we pay for it. It's called Community Choice Energy (CCE).

Del Mar and Encinitas are ready to move forward with a technical study of Community Choice, but before they can get started they need Carlsbad and Oceanside to get on board.

Over 70 cities and counties in California are being served by CCE and are getting more clean energy, better rooftop solar programs, and local reinvestment at the same or better rates than offered by the utility monopolies.

I would like to have a choice in who provides my electricity rather than be at the mercy of a utility monopoly like SDG&E. A Community Choice Energy electricity provider would be locally controlled and accountable, which I would trust more than SDG&E's executives and the state utilities commission to do what's best for our city. Over 70 cities and counties in California are being served by Community Choice and are getting better rooftop solar programs and local clean energy projects that benefit the local economy and save consumers money -- all at the same or better rates than offered by utility monopolies. I have learned that other North Coastal cities are ready for Carlsbad to join them in doing a Community Choice technical study. This isn't a commitment to adopt Community Choice, only a study to learn how it might benefit our city. It would be inexplicable and unconscionable to not take this step. Please participate in the study. Siding with an antiquated monopoly is not okay. Thank you,
