Donald Trump wants to gut the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency budget and decimate its staff -- killing 3,200 federal EPA jobs and countless jobs connected with the EPA at the state level.
Budgets are reflections of values and priorities, and Trump's budget shows he is putting the profits of corporate polluters and Wall Street billionaires, before the health of our communities and the quality of air and drinking water.
Trump’s budget would: cut funding to protect our most iconic bodies of water, like the Great Lakes and the Chesapeake Bay to almost nothing; decimate the EPA's ability to monitor our air quality and limit exposure to deadly and toxic pollution, like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide; eliminate the Energy Star program; end infrastructure assistance to Alaska Native villages and the Mexico boarder; shut down the office of environmental justice, despite communities of color being hit hardest by pollution, making a bad situation even worse.
These budget cuts hobble the EPA's ability to enforce the nation's laws and safeguards that protect the climate, our air, land and water, while making it easier for corporate polluters to boost their profits at the expense of our health, and the environments well-being.
Tell your members of Congress to #SaveTheEPA and defend our communities and the climate from Trump's toxic budget.
